GOSPEL IMPACT!
I once had a little 1969
Opel. I bought it brand new. It wasn't
long before I realized that this car seemed to be carrying an invisible sign
that said "HIT ME!". Many a
time that car was involved in an accident that left an impact on the car (That is, a dent!). In our crazy English, you
might say "The impact had an impact!"
When the Gospel, the
good news of Christ's death, burial and resurrection
is believed a person
becomes born again, or saved. At that
point the Gospel begins to have an impact, an influence on the person who has
believed in Christ.
In our text we see the
impact that the Gospel had on the Thessalonians, and does have on us when we
are saved.
