CHILDREN:

BE RIGHT (OBEY) – Vs. 1

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

BE RESPECTFUL (HONOR) – Vs. 2

Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

BE REWARDED – Vs. 3

That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

PARENTS:

BE RESPONSIBLE – Vs. 4

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:5-9

ON THE JOB

Most people to whom you will minister are involved in some sort of employment. Ephesians 6:5-9 talks to masters and slaves. The truths of this passage may easily be applied to employers and employees or bosses and employees.

THE SERVANT (EMPLOYEE) Vss. 5-8

The Honesty Of The Servant Vs. 5-6a

"...obedient..."

"...in singleness of you heart, as unto Christ..."

"...not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers...."

The Heart Of The Servant Vss. 6b-7

Ephesians 6:10-17

FULLY ARMED

When I pastored a church with a Christian School, I discovered that the favorite songs of young boys tended to be what I call "Christian Fight Songs" These hymns about Christian warfare are indeed an important part of Christian hymnology. There are such songs as "Sound The Battle Cry", "Victory In Jesus", "Onward Christian Soldiers", and "Stand Up,. Stand Up For Jesus", which encourage the Christian to stand up and fight for Christ.

Of course, soldiers need to be fully armed when they go into battle. Any good army provides the soldier with all he needs in weapons, technology, clothing, transportation, etc. in order to fight a good fight.

We, as soldiers of the cross have also been equipped for the fight which is ahead of us. This fight against Satan and his forces is talked of in our text.

Ephesians 6:10-13 - "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

PROCEDURE FOR EFFECTIVE PRAYING

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."

Frequency Of Prayer - "always"

Fullness Of Prayer - "all" (Philippians 4:6)

Includes praise, thanksgiving, prayer for personal needs, prayer for others.

Force Of Prayer - "in the Spirit"
