1 Peter 2:1-3
ELIMINATION - "Wherefore laying aside all malice,
and all guile, and
hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings."
ENTHUSIASM - "As newborn babes, desire the
sincere milk of the
word.."
EXPLANATION - "...that ye may grow thereby: If so
be ye have tasted
that the Lord is gracious."

BIBLE STUDY
Here is a simple format for studying the Word of God:
EXAMINATION FOR SIN - Vs. 1
Make sure there is nothing that will hinder your study
of God's Word.
Confess any known sin. 1 John 1:9
If the Spirit of God is grieved, you will not get much
out of God's Word. Ephesians 4:30
ENDEAVOR IN THE SCRIPTURES - Vs. 2
As a baby is eager for milk, we should be eager to
learn from the Scriptures.
Our purpose for studying God's Word should be to grow!
1 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 15:4
EXPRESSION OF SALVATION - Vs. 3
The examination for sin and endeavor in God's Word is
proof that we have been saved.
We have "tasted that the Lord is gracious".

ABOUT OUR CHURCH
Often people want to
know things about our church. They want to know our denomination, our beliefs,
our service times and our activities. In
our text we find three important facts true of our church and all churches that
truly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
WE ARE A PEOPLE. -
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people;"
WE HAVE A PURPOSE. -
"...that ye should shew forth the praises of him
who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:"
WE RECEIVED A PROMOTION.
- "Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:
which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

THE CHRISTIANS

GOD'S IDENTIFICATION
God identifies us as:
1. A
2. A Royal Priesthood
3. A Holy Nation
4. A Peculiar People
GOD'S INTENT

Past - Not a people and
without mercy.
Present - The
people of God

WORKS - Vs. 12

HAS PLACED OVER YOU - Vss. 13-14

BEFORE A WATCHING WORLD
The unsaved world is watching
us. We need to behave accordingly.
ABSTAIN - Vs. 11 -
Worldly lusts are to be avoided.
ADVERTISE - Vs. 12,
15-16 - Honest behavior advertises positively for Christ.
ADHERE - Vss. 13, 14 -
We are to submit to those leaders God has placed over us.
ABOUND - Vs. 17 -
Practicing these things will help us prosper as a testimony for Christ.
