1 Samuel 12
THE END OF AN ERA
A king (Saul) had been installed. Samuel, who was the last judge to rule over
Israel before the monarchy began, is giving a farewell sermon to the Children
of
MINISTRY REVIEWED – Vss. 1-5
Samuel establishes the integrity of his ministry.
MISTAKES REMEMBERED – Vss. 6-12
God had blessed Israel, but
MONARCH RECEIVED – Vss. 13-15
They now had the king they desired. Obedience to the
Lord under the new king was called for.
MOVEMENT REQUESTED – Vss. 16-19
It was the time of the wheat harvest, a time when it
didn’t usually rain. Samuel requested in prayer that in rain to give
credibility to his words that they were wrong in asking for a king. The request
was answered and the people feared.
MERCY REASSURED – Vss. 20-25
Samuel assured the people that were not to fear but to
faithfully follow the Lord.

been given a great victory by God.
Samuel called the people to renew their covenant with God at Gilgal. 1 Samuel 11:14-15

PRAYERS
There are many kinds of
prayer found in the Bible. Here are three types of prayer that we should
imitate.
FAITHFUL PRAYER - 1
Samuel 12:23
Samuel was not going to
sin against the Lord by failing to pray for others. He would faithful lift them
up before the "Throne of Grace". Ephesians 6:18
FORCEFUL PRAYER - 1
Kings 17:17-24, 1 Kings
When Elijah prayed
things happened! Elijah's prayers were
prayers of faith. Mark
FRUITFUL PRAYER - Job
42:10
Job was delivered from
his own problems when he prayed for his friends. 1 Timothy
2:1-4
God blessed Job greatly
when he prayed.
