A STRONG LUST – Vss. 1-2
Amnon, David’s son, had a sexual attraction to his half-sister Tamar. She was the sister of Absalom.
A SUBTLE PLOT – Vss. 3-5
Jonadab, a friend, suggested a way of getting to seduce Tamar through
deception. He was to fain illness.
A SINFUL DECEPTION – Vss.
6-14
Amnon seduced Tamar against her will.
His attraction to her was turned to hatred. He then rejected her.
A SUBDUED ANGER – Vss. 18-22
Absalom practiced and called
for silence. Although David was also
angry he evidently did nothing to punish Amnon. Absalom evidently quietly seethed in anger.
A SNEAKY REVENGE – Vss.
23-29
Absalom carried out a
deceptive plot to kill his brother Amnon.
A STRAINED RELATIONSHIP –
Vss. 30-39
Absalom fled. David and he
were not on speaking terms.
