2 Samuel 19:1-8
LEADER IN DISTRESS
The loss of a child at any age is a sad
occurrence. David lost his son Absalom
as a result of Absalom’s revolt against his
father. Although Absalom was killed and
his rebellious army defeated, David still longed for his son. His distress was so bad that it even affected
those who had faithfully supported their king when he had to flee
A SAD KING – Vss. 1-4
What should have been a day of rejoicing was turned
into a day of sorrow.
A STRONG REBUKE – Vss. 5-7
Joab was justified in rebuking David. Although David’s sorrow was somewhat
justified, the people who had saved David’s life and regained for him his
throne needed to hear a good word from their king.
A STRENGTHENED PEOPLE – Vs. 8
David appeared and the people were encouraged.
