JOHN 19
2 Outlines
John 19:30
IT IS FINISHED!
There is always a sense
of satisfaction when a job is done. When we can add
the word "finished" to a task at work, at home or
church, it is a real
relief! I am glad to say that Dottie and I sent our children to
Christian
Schools. But I am also glad to say that there was a day when I was
finished
paying the bills. When our anything productive is completed, it is
nice to
say "Finished!" When an unpleasant chapter in life is
over, it is also good
when we can say, "Finished!"
"It is
finished!" were words uttered by our Lord Jesus on the cross. His
task was completed.
He had done all that His
Father had sent Him to do. There was nothing
overlooked. Every detail was attended to.
Of course, the words
"It is finished" certainly refer to the atoning work of
Christ on the cross.
Everything that needed to be done was done to secure
salvation. But the words "It is finished" can be placed
over every part of
Jesus' life.
IT IS FINISHED MEANS:
