Mark 16

GREAT ACTIONS

#16 of 16 – THE ACTION GOSPEL

THINK ABOUT IT!

·        What arguments have you heard against the resurrection of Jesus from the dead?  How do you answer them?

·        Why is the resurrection important to you?

·        Why is the resurrection a key part to the Gospel Message?

We are concluding our study of Mark with a look at the Great Actions that took place at the Resurrection of Christ from the dead.

I.  GREAT INTENT - Vss. 1-3

ü      Why do you think the women wanted to anoint the body?

ü      How do the huge stone at the tomb and the guards mentioned in other Gospels give credence to the resurrection?

II. THE GREAT DISCOVERY - Vss. 4-5

¨      Why was the stone rolled away?

¨      Would you have been frightened or amazed if you saw such a young man as the women did?  Why?

III. THE GREAT ANNOUNCEMENT - Vss. 6-8

§         The angel knew who the women were looking for.  He attests to the crucifixion.

§         The angel's great news was that Jesus was not there.  He had risen from the dead.

§         Why did the angel want the women to look at the place where Jesus had laid?

      John 20:6-7

§         Why was Peter singled out to be told about the resurrection? Luke 22:62

§         Why do you think Jesus chose to visit with the disciples in Galilee?  He also appeared to them in Jerusalem. John 20:19

IV. THE GREAT APPEARANCES - Vss. 9-14

q       What does the appearance of Jesus to Mary Magdalene tell you about the nature of Jesus? What does it tell you about the Gospel? Vs. 9

q       What do you think about the unbelief of the Apostles when they heard Mary's testimony? Vss. 10-11

q       Verse 12 is a reference to the two disciples whom the Lord met on the Road to Emmaus.  Other than seeing the risen Lord, what was the special privilege these men received (Luke 24:27)?  How can we enjoy the same privilege (John 16:13-14)?

q       Why was it so easy for the disciples not to believe in the resurrection? Vs. 13

q       What does hardness of heart have to do with unbelief? Vs. 14

q       Has Jesus ever rebuked you for your unbelief and hardness of heart?

q       What does Hebrews 3:12 tell us about unbelief?  What is one of the key antidotes to unbelief? Hebrews 3:13, 10:24-25

V. THE GREAT COMMISSION - Vss. 15-18

Ø      What are ways we can carry out the "Great Commission"?

Ø      What good reasons are there for not being baptized?

Ø      Is it possible to be saved and not be baptized?

Ø      What other important ingredient does Matthew add to the Great Commission? (Matthew 28:20)

Ø      When did the miracles of verses 17-18 take place? Hebrews 2:1-4

VI. THE GREAT CONCLUSION - Vss. 19-20

·        Where is Jesus now? What is He doing? 1 John 2:1-2, Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:24-25

·        How did the ascension motivate the Apostles?

·        What made the Apostles so successful? Acts 1:8
