Mark 7
ACTIONS FOR ALL
#7 of 16
(These are outlines which are more suited for Sunday
School and Bible Study than preaching. Most of these outlines are not
alliterated.)
In Mark 7 Jesus is
found taking action in some way with those He comes in contact with. One of the most significant actions he took
was confronting the Pharisees about their traditions.
1. From the
Panel - Vs. 1
2. About the
Disciples - Vs. 2
3. Concerning
Their Traditions - Vss. 3-5
The
traditions were oral laws delivered by well-known rabbis. They were
compiled in a book called the Mishna. The Mishna was said to be "a
fence
around
the law", supposedly keeping Jews from violating God's Word.
Instead the Mishna ended up giving the Jews excuses for violating God's
Word.
1. Hypocrisy of
lip service - Vs. 6
1. God's
Teaching - Vs. 10
2. Man's
Tradition - Vss. 11-12
According to the rabbis, a man could neglect the care of his parents by
claiming
that he was setting the resources aside as a gift to God.

Matthew
Jesus pointed out that defilement is in
the heart and comes out in our behavior.
