LEARNING FROM JESUS
JESUS HEALED A LEPER - Vss. 1-4
The leper believed that Jesus could heal him of Jesus
was willing.
Jesus was willing.
The man was healed.
JESUS HEARD A LEADER - Vss. 5-9
A centurion (captain over a hundred soldiers) requested
that Jesus would heal his servant.
The centurion did not consider himself worthy for
Jesus to enter his home.
But the centurion had confidence that because Jesus
was a man of authority, all He had to do was "speak the word" and his
servant would be healed.
JESUS HAD A LESSON - Vss. 10-13
Jesus marvelled at this
man's faith.
He contrasted it with the lack of faith that he found

HELPED BY THE SAVIOR
There are many people
who have been helped by the Lord Jesus (Give your own examples.)
Three such helped people
are described in our text.
THE LEPER WAS HELPED BY
THE SAVIOR WHO WAS WILLING - Vss. 1-4
We would come to Him
more for help if we only realized how willing to help Jesus is!
THE CENTURION WAS HELPED
BY THE SAVIOR WHO MARVELLED - Vss. 5-13
The centurion expressed
great faith. He realized that Jesus didn't even have to come to his house.
All Jesus had to do was
"speak the word" and his servant would receive healing.
Jesus marvelled at this man's faith.
Our faith in this
faithless generation should be such that Jesus would be equally pleased with
our faith.
PETER'S MOTHER IN-LAW
WAS HELPED BY A SAVIOR WHO WAS SERVED - Vss. 4-15
Jesus healed the lady.
She served Him. You and I have been healed if we are saved. We should show our
appreciation by serving Him in return. Galatians

MASTER OF THE STORM
No Christian escapes the
storms of life (James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-5).
It is best to remember
that we have a personal faith relationship with the one who is in control of
all stormy weather.

DISCIPLES IN DANGER
WISE DISCIPLES - Vs. 23
The wisest thing any
disciple can do is follow Him wherever He leads. Luke 14:26-27, John 12:26
WAVERING DISCIPLES -

When storms come we tend
to waver in our faith. We tend to panic
WONDERING DISCIPLES -
Vss. 26-27
Jesus calmed the storm
and the sea. He rebuked them for their
faith. They couldn't help but wonder at his awesome power.

Matthew 8:28-34
CONFRONTATION!
There were often
confrontations between Jesus and the representatives of Satan. Sometimes Satan's representatives were real
people like the scribes and Pharisees. Other times Satan's representatives were
people possessed by demons, such as the case in this story.
THE DESPERATION OF
SINNERS - Vs. 28
These men were under
Satan's control and in desperate straits.
Any person without Christ is in desperate straits as well. Ephesians
2:1-3
THE DESIRE OF DEMONS -
Vss. 29-31
It's ironic,
the tormentors did not want to be tormented. They can dish it out, but don't
want to take it. Their desire was also
that they would be sent into a herd of swine.
THE DOMINATION BY JESUS
- Vs. 32
At the word of Jesus the
demons departed into the swine.
At the word of Jesus the
demoniacs became sane.
Such is the authority
and power of our Lord.
THE DECISION OF A CITY -
Vss. 33-34
Instead of embracing
Jesus, they asked him to leave.
How many people today
have made the same tragic decision?
