Numbers 25:1-15
GOD HATES SIN!
Many do not like
the violence of the Old Testament.
However, God is
justified to hate sin because He is a holy God.
After the ten
commandments had been given there was no reason for the behavior practiced by
some Israelites in Numbers 25.
CORRUPTED VALUES
Vss. 1-5
Some of the people
committed adultery in two ways. First, there was literally adultery with the
daughters of
COURAGEOUS
VIGILANCE Vss. 6-9
While many were
weeping before the tabernacle, an Israelite man and a Moabite woman headed for
the man's tent. Phinehas, the priest,
noticed it, he followed and killed both people.
God, who was angry with the sin, required judgment. Phinehas is
remembered for standing for what was right. May we be remembered the same way.
COMPLIMENTARY
VOICE Vss. 10-15
There was praise
and blessing for Phinehas because he did what was right.
