PSALM 93
4 Outlines
Psalm 93
OUR DEPENDABLE GOD
(A COMPLETE LESSON)
·
What are the traits of a dependable person?
·
Why is being dependable an important characteristic?
·
Why are undependable people or companies frustrating?
·
How will knowledge of God’s dependability help you?
We are studying Psalm 93. We do not know
who wrote the Psalm, or when it was written.
There is a good possibility, however,
that it was at the end of the 70 year captivity of
To me, this Psalm shows how dependable
God is! If God is dependable, as His
children, we have nothing to fear! I see
five things that I can count on because God is dependable.
The Lord reigneth,
he is clothed with majesty;
·
The Lord reigns because He is king! What should that mean for us when we don’t
like what’s going on in the world?
·
Why should the Lord’s kingship give me a sense of
security?
·
Why should the Lord’s kingship give me a sense of
responsibility?
Romans 8:16-18 - The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
[17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. [18] For
I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared
with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
·
Why should the Lord’s kingship give you a sense of
awe? Psalm 24:7-10, Isaiah 6:1-4
…the Lord is clothed with strength,
wherewith he hath girded himself:
The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the
floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on
high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of
the sea.
·
In what ways has God shown His strength?
·
The floods referred to here are very likely the heathen
nations that rear their ugly head against God.
·
I personally think of the floods as my problems. What should God’s strength and interest in my
problems motivate me do?
…the world also is stablished,
that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from
everlasting.
Psalm 90:1-2 - Lord,
thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. [2] Before the mountains
were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the
earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
·
How does God’s stability make us feel about various
governments?
·
How should God’s stability make us feel about world
situations?
Thy testimonies are very sure:
·
What does this statement tell you about God’s Word?
·
Name some of the great promises in God’s Word that are
helpful in times of distress.
·
God’s Word is very sure. What should be our response to it?
…holiness becometh
thine house, O Lord, forever.
·
What does this verse tell me about Heaven?
·
Based on 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, what does this verse
tell me about myself and my behavior?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which
is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are
bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit,
which are God's.
How does Psalm 93 affect your thinking about God and
your problems?

Psalm 93
OUR GOD REIGNS
.
HOW LOVELY ON THE
MOUNTAINS
ARE THE FEET OF
HIM
WHO BRINGS GOOD
NEWS,
GOOD NEWS
ANNOUNCING PEACE,
PROCLAIMING NEWS
OF HAPPINESS.
OUR GOD REIGNS; OUR
GOD REIGNS!
(2) HE HAD NO
STATELY FORM;
HE HAD NO MAJESTY,
THAT WE SHOULD BE
DRAWN TO HIM.
HE WAS DESPISED
AND WE TOOK NO ACCOUNT OF HIM,
YET NOW HE REIGNS
WITH THE MOST HIGH.
(3) OUT OF THE
TOMB
HE CAME WITH GRACE
AND MAJESTY;
HE IS ALIVE, HE IS
ALIVE.
GOD LOVES US SO,
SEE HERE HIS
HANDS,
HIS FEET, HIS
SIDE.
YES, WE KNOW HE IS
ALIVE.
CHORUS: OUR GOD
REIGNS! (4 TIMES)

Psalm 93 begins with the saying, ‘THE LORD REIGNS”
What does that mean to you?
How can believing this truth change your life?
How is this truth relevant in the following situations:
When someone is ill?
When someone dies?
When children disappoint you?
When there are financial difficulties?
Tonight’s psalm should be an encouragement, as it reminds of some of the
significance of God’s reign.
THE CLOTHING OF
GOD’S REIGN – Vs. 1
·
Majesty – Isaiah 6:1-8,
Revelation 1:12-17
·
Strength
How strong is God?
Why is His
strength important?
Philippians 4:13
Ephesians
3:16-21 - That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be
strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; [17] That Christ may
dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18]
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and
depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth
knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness
of God. - [20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh
in us, [21] Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all
ages, world without end. Amen.
Colossians 1:11 - Strengthened with all might, according to
his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
THE CONCRETENESS
OF GOD’S REIGN – Vs. 1
Who can move the
earth?
Will He ever?
When? Revelation 21:1
Until then, no
matter what happens nothing is going to happen to the earth.
The only way
anything can ever change is when God allows it.
What, besides the
world, is unmovable?
His Word
His Promises
His Presence
His Power
His Plans
His permanent
reign
THE CONTINUATION
OF GOD’S REIGN – Vs. 2
How long has God
reigned? How long will He reign?
What are some of
the problems God has reigned through?
THE COMFORT OF
GOD’S REIGN – Vss. 3-4
Think of the
floods as your troubles.
How do troubles
have voices?
What do large
waves do to people? How are our troubles
like those waves?
How is the Lord
mightier than the noise our troubles make?
How is the Lord
mightier than the waves that hit us?
"Needless to say, this occurred frequently until one day as he was
brushing himself off, he looked at me and said, 'Daddy?' I replied, 'Yes, Son,
what is it?' He said, I think if you would hold my hand, I wouldn't fall.'

also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
Mark 13:13 - And ye shall be hated of all men
for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be
saved.
·
He rules in holiness
Leviticus 20:26 - And ye shall be
holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people,
that ye should be mine.

Psalm 93
GOD IN CONTROL
My wife, Dottie, is
president of the Willing Workers
I discovered this need when
Dottie was not available and the dinner needed to be organized. I called her vice president, Fran. Fran took the list of those who usually help
and went to work. Neither Dottie nor I are worried about how things would turn
out because Fran had things under control. In a similar fashion, we Christians
should not worry because God has everything under control.
CONFIDENCE - Vss. 1-2
The Lord reigns and is
clothed with majesty.
He has strength.
The world can not be
moved by anyone other than Him. He is in control.
He has been reigning and
will reign for all eternity.
COMPARISON - Vss. 3-4
Our God is mightier than
the waves of the flood or the sea.
Nothing can stop Him!
COMFORT - Vs. 5
God keeps his promises -
"Thy testimonies are very sure..."
God will act in a holy
(sinless) manner forever.
